Natural Remedies For Head Lice Might Be Stored In Your Refrigerator

Open the refrigerator door to find natural remedies for head lice if your child has brought head lice home from school. These parasites live off of human hair and lay their eggs in it, they are referred to as "nits". To eliminate head lice, you also have to get rid of the little eggs and many mothers have spent nights "picking" these nits out of their child's hair.

Adults can get a case of these parasites and they can be spread quite easily by using another's brush or comb, thus making them contagious. If they aren't eliminated quickly, they can weaken the roots of your hair and you can experience hair loss and fever. There are a few natural remedies for head lice which are quite effective and they are common ingredients found in your refrigerator.

Onion juice:

The sulfur content found in onion juice can be quite effective against eliminating these little varmints. You can juice an onion and slowly massage the juice into the scalp. Leave the onion juice in your hair for at least 3 hours and then wash it out. If you continue this regiment for 3 continuous days, you will find this an effective natural remedy for head lice and eggs.

Natural Remedies For Head Lice

Apple Pieces:

You can massage the hair and scalp with finely-chopped apple pieces, 30 minutes daily. The juices from the apples can impart acids, which are a remedy for lice, with continual use over 3 days.

Garlic and Lemon Juice:

Garlic and lemon juice is a one of the remedies for lice that can be made into a paste and massaged into the scalp and left overnight. By morning, you can scrub the mixture out and you will find the lice are completely gone within 5 days of continually using this routine. Garlic is a member of the onion family, containing the same sulfuric properties and the acidic mixture of lemon juice will kill the lice and their eggs.

Olive Oil:

Massaging olive oil onto your scalp can make the lice and nits easier to slide out, while giving the parasites less dead skin and hair follicles to feed on. Simply apply the olive oil until the hair is fairly wet and cover with a shower cap for about 3 hours. Comb the hair and they will slide right out!

Tomato Sauce:

Natural remedies for head lice include tomato sauce, applied to the roots of the hair and left in for a couple hours before washing. The acidic content of the tomato sauce will kill the lice and many people have had success with this method.

Mayonnaise and Vinegar:

Schools even recommend this combination as one of the easiest natural remedies for head lice. You can use plain generic mayonnaise, left on for two hours, followed by shampooing and a vinegar wash. If you comb the hair with a metal nit comb, you can easily remove dead lice and nits.

Tea Tree Oil:

A dilution of tea tree oil can be massaged into the scalp and left in for about ten minutes before rinsing out. While some people use this as furniture oil, it is also one of the best natural remedies for head lice.
